MANUFACTURING LABORATORY

Three faculty members obtained an NSF grant to purchase equipment for a manufacturing laboratory to support product realization throughout the curriculum. The equipment is housed primarily in the Fabrication Laboratory. Students utilize the equipment for lab exercises and demonstrations in MENG 3219, Introduction to Manufacturing, and for assistance with product realization in the design courses.

The Manufacturing Laboratory was intentionally equipped with portable desktop equipment that can be easily moved into a classroom for demonstration purposes. Manufacturing process equipment includes:

  • Desktop CNC Lathe
  • Desktop CNC Mill
  • BOB-CAD CAD/CAM Software
  • Rapid Prototyping System
  • Injection and Blow Molding Machine
  • Vacuum Forming Machine
  • Laboratory Press with Heated Platens
  • Robotics Five-Axis Robot with Servo Gripper
  • Photolithography Printed Circuit Board Fabrication Kit

Dr. Lindsay Wells is responsible for the Manufacturing Laboratory.
